About
About me and what I think about
My main interests sit at the intersections of tech, physics, and finance. I've spent the last 3 years in tech Investment Banking in NYC, and before that double majored in Physics and Computer Science at the University of Richmond.
I try to read widely and am always open to recommendations — GoodReads.
If something here resonates — or you disagree with something entirely — I'd love to hear from you. Cold-emailing strangers on the internet is criminally underused (outside of job searches).
Why the site exists
(1) Fulfill the desire to create
The desire to create is innate to human nature and yet I've rarely ever tried to satisfy it.
I've always considered myself a lifelong learner. I read widely, avidly consume podcasts, etc. — but there's never been an output. Never a release valve.
(2) Pressure test and refine ideas by forcing them into a form I'm willing to stand by publicly
Contact with reality produces feedback. Action creates information.
If you never leave the confines of your own head to bounce your ideas off of reality, you get stuck within highly inaccurate mental models of the world (read: lose your mind).
The goal is to have a more accurate prediction machine for your next interaction with the world, not to prove you took the right action in your last interaction.
(3) Improve my ability to communicate ideas
There's no one way to communicate effectively, yet some are better than others. Experimenting to see what works, for me.
The world's operating system is a series of narratives. The stories we are told (and believe) are what shape the outcome.
If you can't tell stories effectively, you can't shape the world.
